detailed description.
*Note: Some
features in SMART Notebook software are not
available to Macintosh users. These features are
marked as Windows only.
Touch
Control
The SMART Board driver gives you touch control of
applications. Press on the interactive whiteboard
or interactive screen to select menu options, open
files, navigate the Web or move objects –
anything you’d do with a mouse.

Write
over Applications
To draw attention, add emphasis or critique a
point, you can write over top of any application
or Web site. You can then save the annotation, or
simply touch the whiteboard or interactive screen
to make it disappear.

SMART
Notebook Software
When you capture notes written over applications,
both the background and the annotations appear in
SMART Notebook software. Notes and images become
objects that you can move and resize. You can also
change electronic ink color, reorganize notes and
save all your work to a file.

Other features of Notebook software include:
Side Sorter
View thumbnail images of each page to easily
scroll through your work.
Drag and Drop (Windows
operating systems only)
Move objects between Notebook pages, or drag and
drop them into other open applications.
Screen Capture
The screen capture toolbar floats over any open
application. Press a toolbar button and the
captured image automatically appears in your
Notebook file.

Templates
Insert built-in templates, including graphs,
clocks and grids, or create your own.

Print Options
Print up to 12 Notebook pages per sheet.
Save as Image Files (Windows
operating systems only)
Save each Notebook page as a separate image file
in various formats (e.g., JPEG, BMP, TIFF).
Share Files
Any computer running SMART Board software can open
Notebook (NBK) files. Alternatively, you can save
Notebook files as HTML or PDF files (Windows
operating systems only).

On-Screen
Keyboard
Open the on-screen keyboard to type text, numbers
or symbols into any application.

Integrate
with Third-Party Applications (Windows
operating systems only)
SMART Aware provides seamless integration between
SMART Board software and third-party applications.
For example, when you write over a Microsoft
PowerPoint slide, you can save your notes directly
into the PowerPoint file. Similarly, annotations
written over Microsoft Word and Excel can be saved
within the file as either drawing objects or
converted text.

| Major applications
currently supported include: |
 |
Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Paint software |
 |
AutoCAD software |
 |
Corel Presentations software |
 |
CorelDRAW 8 software |
Conferencing applications include Microsoft
NetMeeting conferencing software and LiveShare
Plus data-conferencing software.

Write over Video
For Windows operating systems, you can use
SMART Video Player to annotate over moving or
still video from sources such as camcorders, VCRs,
document cameras and computer files. Write over
top of the video, pause or freeze frames and save
or clear annotations. Saving annotations
automatically sends a screen capture to Notebook
software.
For the Mac OS X operating system, use
QuickTime Player software to annotate over moving
or still video.

Record
Your Work (Windows
operating systems only)
With SMART Recorder, you can record and
then replay an entire lesson, presentation or
meeting. Activate Recorder to capture everything
you do on the interactive whiteboard or lectern.
You can add a microphone to record audio, and
pause or stop the recording at any time. Audio and
data are saved into a single file for playback in
Windows Media Player.

SMART Recorder can be activated at any point
during a presentation or meeting. A clock and a
rotating icon indicate that SMART Recorder is on.
Using a simple three-button toolbar, you can
start, pause or stop recording. SMART Recorder
saves files as AVI files. Settings can be adjusted
to achieve optimum recording and playback for
different computer systems.

Convert
Handwriting to Text (Windows
operating systems only)
Handwriting recognition converts your writing or
printing to text. There’s no need to train the
software or activate special commands. Notes you
write in Notebook software, over top of Excel or
Word files, or in the handwriting area of the
on-screen keyboard, can all be converted to text.
Recognize Handwriting using SMART Notebook
Software
All handwritten notes can be converted to text by
clicking or pressing the A button in the top right
corner of the text box. You can convert single
words, sentences or an entire whiteboard page of
handwritten notes.

Recognize Handwriting using the
On-Screen Keyboard
The on-screen keyboard provides a space for
handwriting. Once converted, the text can be
entered into any application.

Extend
Projector Life (Windows operating systems

To extend the life of your projector bulb, the
Bulb Saver can turn the projector off when the
interactive whiteboard is left unused for a set
period of time. To reactivate the projector,
either press on the interactive whiteboard or
